In a shocking incident in Achua village under Farakka police station in Murshidabad district, a dispute over a mobile phone installment proved fatal for the family of a youth. On Friday night, 52-year-old Asgar Sheikh was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and rods when he sought payment for a mobile phone his son had purchased on installments for a friend. Two other family members sustained serious injuries in the brutal attack.
According to local sources, Asgar Sheikh's son, Annar Sheikh, had bought a mobile phone on an installment plan and lent it to his friend, Johnny Sheikh. While Johnny initially paid one installment, he subsequently began to avoid paying the remaining amount. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to collect the money, Annar went to Johnny's father, Rehesan Sheikh, on Friday evening to complain. This led to an argument, after which Annar returned home.
However, shortly after, Johnny Sheikh, his father Rehesan Sheikh, and other family members reportedly arrived at Annar's house and launched a violent assault using sticks and iron rods. Annar Sheikh, his father Asgar Sheikh, and one of Annar's brothers were severely injured in the attack. Asgar Sheikh succumbed to his injuries, while the two others are currently receiving medical attention. Police from Farakka police station have launched an investigation into the incident, which highlights the tragic escalation of a seemingly minor dispute into a fatal confrontation.
